A Collecting Pause …

After many decades of collecting, the museum has made the decision to place a temporary moratorium (pause) on acquiring new items. This moratorium will be in place until June of 2024. This period will allow the curatorial staff to perform an extensive assessment of our collections, policies, and procedures. Any unsolicited items for donation will not be accepted during this time, and drop-offs without appointment will not be considered.

In very limited cases, exceptions to the moratorium may be made for items of significant historical importance. If you still wish for your artifacts to be considered, please fill out a donation interest form and submit it to collectionsmanager@mbagmuseum.ca. Forms will be evaluated four times a year.

Thank you for your interest in supporting Manitoba Agricultural Museum through item donation. As an accredited museum, Manitoba Agricultural Museum has a stewardship role in preserving our historical assets that include our vast collection of diverse objects. The collection is largely made up of items donated by people like you, and these objects help us tell the story of agriculture in the province of Manitoba.

If you wish to support the care of Manitoba Agricultural Museum’s historical collections through a monetary donation, please visit our donations page and designate “curatorial” as the specific use.
