Researcher/writer wanted for short-term project

The Manitoba Agricultural Museum requests applications for a short-term research and writing contract for its “Farmers of Manitoba” history project.

Our Manitoba 150-funded project entitled “Farmers of Manitoba” will collect, edit, and present history contributions (stories and photographs) from Manitoba farmers of all ages, backgrounds, and experiences for delivery in an on-site kiosk and/or the museum’s website.

Information on the “Farmers of Manitoba” project is available on the museum’s website:

The museum requires an experienced researcher/writer to solicit and receive contributions then prepare them for public delivery. The successful applicant will have an academic background in History or Canadian Studies or Historical Geography or allied discipline. Knowledge of agricultural practices will be an important asset, and experience in writing, especially in online formats, is mandatory.

Delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic, it is anticipated this will be a four-month, half-time contract to be completed by August 2021, or as mutually agreed.

Applicants should send a cover letter containing a statement of how they meet the specific requirements of the contract including examples of other related work, a current resume, and estimated level of compensation to:

Angie Klym
President, Manitoba Agricultural Museum

Applications should be submitted by email before Friday, 9 April 2021 at 5:00 PM. While we sincerely appreciate all applications, only those candidates selected for interview will be contacted.
